OVER
OVER from Jorn Threlfall on Vimeo.
Jörn Threlfall's film Over tells the tragic story of a man who fell to his death from an airplane after hiding in the aircrafts wheel-weep. The story is told in reverse chronological order, similar to Gaspar Noé's Irréversible, to allow the audience to piece the story together. The film is told through simple static shots, with no dialogue, just diabetic sounds. This simplicity allows the audience to focus on the story more. The film begins a pan down the street at night to show the empty steet, followed by a car pulling in at 7:45pm and a couple walk into their house unbeknownst to the death of the man that day. I think the reason Threfall edited the film this way was to show how the man was forgotten and how he is buried in an unmarked grave 4000 miles from his home, and how the satin went away within 24 hours. The three pictures below are all from different points in the film but are all positioned the same. This allows the audience to be put in the spectator position to follow the story.
